As everyone that's following the show is seeing and everyone that's seen her work before knows, she's a terrific actress. It's a real gift on a personal level for me I get to have these little two-handers with her. Wes and Annalise have a complex dynamic - how's it been building that with Viola Davis across the season? It was crazy really, playing that level of personal uncertainty you're like. A couple of little things gave a suggestion of the way it was going to go - I think there was one scene in the seventh episode where I thought I knew the way it was going to go, so I sort of decided from there who it was going to be. "Ultimately we didn't find out until it was in the episode. "No one committed to an answer really - everyone kept changing their minds every couple of weeks! We were responding to what was in the script as well, as you'd start with one assumption and then think maybe it's this person. It is genuinely constantly surprising it's testament to the writers that they manage to keep it twisting and turning and keep us so on the edge of our seats."ĭid you have fun speculating on Who Killed Sam? Did you discuss it with your cast-mates? Were your theories correct? "Aside from just getting the script to get down to work, you also want to find out what's happened to your character because you've built an investment in them. "Oh no, take it as it comes! You find out, and you go, 'Oh what!' - everyone's dying to get the next script because there's that element, which hopefully the viewers are getting as well, that on a basic level you just want to know what comes next! How clued up are the cast on the show's secrets as you shoot? Are you told everything or do you take it as it comes? "As much as it is exciting that it's gone as well as it has, it's felt a bit like business as normal - which is a testament to the environment that everyone managed to create on set, which was rather nice!" "It's been exciting! I had this very monastic life when I was in LA we were working most days, so I wasn't as aware as I might have been of the popularity of it, other than people saying it's going well, people are watching it, it felt very much like getting on with it. The response to the first season of How to Get Away with Murder has been phenomenal - what's it been like to be at the centre of all that?
